Qualifications: Qualifications: An Associate s Degree relating to Legal Assistant or Paralegal from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education; years of experience from 1 year in a legal environment to 5 years as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal. Completion of the Arizona Superior Court Fiduciary Licensing test may be required at the discretion of the Public Fiduciary. Preference may be given to bilingual in English and Spanish, in speaking, reading and writing. Considerable knowledge of: State, civil, and criminal law, judicial procedures and methods of legal research; legal terminology; the rules of evidence; drafting correspondence and legal documents. Some knowledge of: modern office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammatical usage. Considerable skill in: analyzing and interpreting legal documents; interpreting statutory and regulatory requirements; preparing summaries of legal opinions from previous cases. Good skill in: data collection; the use of word/data processing systems; operating standard office machines; organizing and managing case files. Ability to: perform accounting functions; plan work and work independently; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, other agencies and the public; prepare and maintain accurate records; formulate concise queries; follow written and verbal instruction; serve as department Notary; read, write and speak English; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Job Description:
Paralegal
Duties: Performs basic research of legal issues in various areas of law; reviews new cases to include but not limited to probates, guardianships and conservatorships and prepares recommendations; prepares all drafts of legal correspondence; prepares and files pleadings, motions, orders, and other legal documents as required; acts as liaison with other departments and outside agencies on legal matters; tracks, manages and prioritizes numerous and varied deadlines for the Public Fiduciary and assigned attorney; responsible for handling creditors and final distributions in probate cases; maintains a tickler system for the filing of accountings and inventories; participates onsite as team member during estate inventories as needed; assists with budgetary expense tracking and office expenses; serves as back up for administrative and financial tasks including answering phones.
