Job Description:
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
The candidate's duties will include : Screen misdemeanor and major felony domestic violence cases; Provide constructive on-the-job guidance to detectives in the investigation and presentation of their cases; Ensure thorough trial preparation of cases prior to filing; Work with supervisor and paralegal on special office and community-based DV-related projects and initiatives; Utilize databases related to DV data collection and personal case management; Maintain a minimal caseload. Should have experience screening cases; Must have a strong interest in the successful prosecution of domestic violence cases; Willingness to take calls and work during evening hours to address needs of IMPD DV Unit detectives and screen cases; Must have knowledge of domestic violence related statutes and caselaw; Licensed to practice law in Indiana; resident or commitment to relocate to County within six (6) months of employment.
